Virginia Beach, Virginia—On Saturday, six Fighting Squirrels braved the bitter cold and jumped into the Atlantic Ocean in support of Special Olympics Virginia.

This year was the 25th Annual Polar Plunge Festival, which raises funds for training, competitions and education for Special Olympics athletes. All in all, Special Olympics of Virginia raised over $1.1 million through the Polar Plunge.

MBU was represented by five members of the soccer team, and one member of the cross country team. To participate, each person had to raise a minimum of $100. These athletes teamed up to raise a total of $1449, utilizing friends, family and social media to help gather donations.

The Squirrels had a good, cold time and are already talking about plunging again next year!
